Therese Terboss

Therese ( Forstner ) Terboss, 98, of Palm Harbor Florida passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025 at Westchester Gardens. Terry was born in Ruhpolding, Germany on October 17, 1926 to Johann and Maria ( Hellweger ) Forstner. She was raised in a small idealistic town nestled in the mountains of Bavaria where her family ran a bed and breakfast. Terry was always outgoing, friendly and very smart, she had a mathematical mind. She worked as the secretary to the Mayor in her city which is where she met her husband Robert during WWII. Robert was a clerk for the U.S. Army, he passed official business through the Mayor's office. Terry would giggle and say, after meeting her, he seemed to show up daily. Soon after they fell in love and were married. Terry began her journey to America. She was alone, pregnant, and on a boat for two weeks before passing through Ellis Island. To say she was a strong woman is an understatement. Terry was one of the first WWII War Brides to enter NY. She was received by her new in-laws that she had never met. A few months later, Robert was discharged with honors and they were together again. Terry became an American citizen which she was most proud of. They raised John for 17 years in Endicott, NY, and then came Kevin. She, Robert and Kevin eventually moved to Camillus, NY where she built a beautiful life full of friends and wonderful memories. Terry worked for Cornell University as an assistant and later worked at JC Penny as manager in credit and catalog which is where she retired from. She and Robert retired to Ocala, Florida and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and cards. She attended church on Sundays and was a member of her local Democratic and German clubs. Terry was an avid entertainer, she loved cooking, baking, and hosting dinner parties. Along the way, Terry made many friends that she adored and they adored her. Terry never forgot where she came from, she called home every week, keeping up perfect German and visited many times, she was very close to her siblings and their children. Germany was her heart, America and her family was her soul. No matter her struggles, Terry made the most of every day greeting everyone with a warm smile and those beautiful baby blues. Although we will miss her terribly, we will carry her in our hearts always. Terry is preceded in death by her husband Robert Terboss and her sister Maria Forstner. She is survived by sons John ( Sonia ) Terboss, and Kevin ( Danielle ) Terboss, grandchildren Amy ( Glen ) Barker, Kyle ( Kristi ) Terboss, Hunter Terboss, great grandchildren Xavier ( Amy ), Elise and Natalie ( Kyle ), Sister Erika Gerl, nephews, Arthur Gerl and Rainer Gerl, brother Hansi( Irmi ) Forstner, nephew Thomas and Niece Andrea, Daughter-in-law Cookie Terboss, Barbara and Paul Stepian whom she thought of as her own. There will be a small, private family gathering to celebrate her beautiful life. Thank you to anyone that was part of her wonderful story, each and every one of you was important to her, you made her life so full.
