Sherri Lyn Brown

Sherri Lyn Brown, 57, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on April 8, 2026. Born on May 6, 1968, in Fort Lauderdale, Sherri lived a life shaped by sunshine, salt air, and the rhythm of the tides. She didn’t just love the beach — she belonged to it. Raised in the breezy warmth of Fort Lauderdale, Sherri graduated with the Fort Lauderdale High School Class of 1986. Even then, she carried a spark that would grow into a lifelong passion for cooking, gardening, and the Florida coastline she adored. Faith guided Sherri throughout her life. In her later years, her relationship with the Lord deepened profoundly, and she shared that light generously. She greeted everyone with a smile and her signature “Have a blessed day,” living out Psalm 118:24 with conviction: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” She played a vital role in building Atlantic Publishing Group alongside her late husband, Douglas. Together, they grew the company from a small home business into a nationally recognized publishing house with more than 600 titles and hundreds of awards. Yet her happiest moments were always away from the desk — in her kitchen, her garden, or out on the water. Sherri expressed love most clearly through food. A gifted home chef, she turned every meal into an experience — whether preparing a feast for family or shucking clams on the dock after a day on the water. Some of her happiest moments were spent by the sea, sharing fresh blue crabs and clams on the half shell with her brother-in-law, Hal. Her table was always abundant, and feeding others brought her pure joy. Her home extended into her garden, where her legendary green thumb transformed Florida soil into vibrant color and life. But her truest sanctuary was the water. Sherri was a lifelong boater and fisher whose heart beat in time with the waves. She felt most herself with the sun on her face, the ocean breeze in her hair, and a fishing rod in her hand. Whether she was cruising on Royal Tease or Satori, exploring the crystal-clear springs of Crystal River, drifting along the shores of Daytona, or soaking in the turquoise calm of Key West, the water was where she came alive. The beach was not simply a destination for Sherri — it was part of her soul. She found peace in the sound of the surf, joy in the thrill of reeling in a catch, and freedom in every sunrise over the Atlantic. Her life was a collection of saltkissed memories: sand between her toes, dolphins in her wake, jeep-hair adventures, and countless days spent chasing the horizon. Family was the heart of Sherri’s world. She treasured the years spent with her parents, Nancy and Bob, and after her mother’s passing, she became her father’s devoted caregiver. Her experience caring for them inspired her deep support for Hospice of Marion County, an organization she held in the highest regard. Sherri’s roots always led her back to Fort Lauderdale, where visits with her brother, Steve Frazier, his wife Lori, and their family filled her with joy. Sherri was also the ultimate aunt — the creator of “The Best Days Ever.” For Jami, Justin, and Emily, she filled childhood with backyard adventures, sinkhole explorations, and rolling down hills in giant cardboard tubes. As Justin and Natalie recalled, Sherri and Doug didn’t just welcome people; they folded them into the family instantly. Her love for animals was another defining thread of her life. A steadfast supporter of local rescue organizations, Sherri’s home was always filled with beloved dogs and cats who adored her. Anyone who knew her knew her heart had paws on it. After Douglas’s unexpected passing, her dear friend Cosmo Easterly became a constant source of companionship, faith, adventures, and laughter, walking beside her with unwavering positivity. Sherri is now reunited with her beloved husband, Douglas, and her parents, Nancy and Bob. She is survived by her brother, Steve Frazier, and his wife Lori; her brother-in-law, Bruce Brown, and his wife Vonda; her brother-in-law, Hal Brown, and his wife Charlanne; her sister-in-law, Lynn Durante; nine nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and great-nephews. She also leaves behind her cherished companion, Cosmo Easterly, and her circle of lifelong friends — Cathy, Wendy, Kari, Jimmy, Steve, Marta, Judy, Maureen, and many more — who lovingly crowned her the “Queen of Mischief.” She leaves behind her beloved dogs and cats, her four-legged family and daily source of comfort and joy. A “Celebration of Life for a life well lived” will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the Atlantic Ballroom at the Shores Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach Shores from 12:00–3:00 p.m. The afternoon will be filled with stories, laughter, food, music, and the joyful spirit Sherri brought everywhere she went. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County or to a local animal rescue — or simply take your dog to the beach, just as Sherri would have loved.
