Obituary of Sandra DroseSandra Maye Drose, "Sandi" 49, of Ocala, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Legacy Hospice House with her loving family at her side. She was a Staffing Specialist with the Marion County School Board, working and devoting her life to helping children. Sandi loved every child she came in contact with as if they were her own. Sandi was born on May 11th 1965 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and lived in Ocala for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, playing softball, and loved spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her grandfather, Gus Freeburg Jr.; Grandmother, Florence Freeburg; Uncle Gus Freeburg and her Father-In-Law Ben Drose. She is survived by her devoted husband, Benjamin "Alex" Drose, of Ocala, FL; mother, Valarie (and her husband Buddy) Newby of Citra, FL; Father, Robert (his wife Sue) Gerard of Jacksonville, FL; Mother-In-Law Kay Drose of Citrus Springs, brother, Mike (his wife Toni) Gerard of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Susie Bennett, of Jacksonville, FL; Brother-In-Laws Craig Drose of Orlando and Derek Drose or Citrus Springs, niece, Angie (her husband Davis) Craine of Savannah, GA; nephew, Kevin (his wife Ariel) Bennett of Jacksonville, FL; and niece, Michelle Bennett of Jacksonville, Fl. Sandi has many additional family members and friends that are too many to mention. Sandi received much love and support from her Marion County School family. This group of ladies showed Sandi love beyond words and we are very grateful for everything they have done. Sandi loved each and every one of them as if they were her family. Sandi knew from the time she was a child she wanted to be a teacher. She spent many days making her brother and sister do school work at home and write sentences when they didn't do exactly as she said. She excelled in school and was on the National Honor Society in high school. She made the Dean's list through college at the University of Florida. Sandi was a Gator fan through and through. She attended games every chance she had. Sandi taught exceptional education for many years. These are the kids that needed the most attention and were very challenging to teach but she dedicated her life to helping them. The more of a challenge something was the more excited she was to conquer it. Sandi received Teacher of the Year Award from the Governor of Florida once and was also honored with being one of the Most Influential Women in the United States. Sandi touched every life she came in contact with and will be deeply missed by all. The children of Marion County have lost a great role model and huge supporter that fought for them every day to ensure they received the education and love they so deserved. The world has lost a beautiful soul but Sandi is no longer suffering or in pain and is worshipping her Lord and Savior with her grandparents, uncle and father-in-law. She will never be forgotten and will always be deeply missed.
