Michael Paul Tamburello

Michael Paul Tamburello, 74, originally from Astoria, New York, passed away on October 12 in Ocala, Florida. Michael was born in Queens to Frank and Stella Tamburello on March 24, 1948. He graduated in 1965 from Long Island City High School and joined the Marines in 1966 where he served for two years, earning a National Defense Service Medal during the Vietnam War. After his service, Michael attended New York Institute of Technology for two years, then worked at the New York Bell Telephone company and then he joined Chubb where he began his long career in insurance. Over the course of his career, Michael worked in underwriting for Hanover, Hartford, CNA, General Accident, Commerce Agency and retired from PMA. In 2012, he happily retired to focus on his family, his dogs and his favorite teams, the Yankees and Giants. Michael also fulfilled a decade long dream of moving to Florida with the love of his life Judy, where he could enjoy sunny days, warm weather and where he would never have to shovel snow ever again. In his retirement, Michael enjoyed playing and coaching softball, joking around on the golf course with his friends, hanging out with his best dog Gus (and his favorite grand-puppy Winnie) and spending as much time as he could with Judy, usually eating his favorite homecooked meals or vacationing with friends. Michael was always quick to help a friend or anyone in his SummerGlen community; his kindness could be seen in the way he welcomed new residents, the way he couched his teams and the never-ending treats he gave to all the dogs at the dog park. Michael was also an avid supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and rescue dogs, in recent years supporting God's Dogs Rescue where he and Judy adopted Gus. Most remarkable though was Michael's devotion to his wife Judy and daughter Ryann; regardless of how difficult the situation, Michael was always present, always loving, always loyal and always supportive of the life they had built. Quick with a compliment or an "I love you", Michael made it his mission to let everyone know how proud he was of both Judy and Ryann as well as his son-in-law Eric, who he always greeted with a handshake and hug. Michael loved his family with all of his heart, both the one he grew up with as well as the extended family who welcomed him into their lives over thirty years ago. Michael is survived by his wife of over 30 years Judith Tamburello and daughter Ryann Casey (Eric Thivierge). He's also survived by his sister Jean and brother-in-law Charlie Hoehlein, nephew Charles and niece Jennifer; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Judy Rotino; his four nieces and their husbands, Stephanie (Ralph) Gallo, Jessica (Michael) Dribnack, Marisa Rotino (Bob Vogt), Becky Rotino (Tom Kull) as well as his grandnieces and nephews, Bobby, Ryan, Aurora, Izzy, Landon, Vivi, Emme and Gigi. Michael's Celebration of Life will be held at the SummerGlen Grand Hall in Ocala (FL) on Thursday October 27 from 12 to 3pm and memorial donations in Michael's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or God's Dogs Rescue (TX).
