Kenton "NARD" Bracey

Kenton Leonard Bracey, affectionately known to most as "Nard," had the kind of infectious personality that could light up a room and a sense of humor that could defuse even the tensest of situations. Born on October 18, 1971, in Ocala, FL, Nard was a man who lived life with a spirited zeal, and though he left us too soon on June 27, 2025, in his beloved hometown, his legacy is one of joy, love, and fun. Nard's early years of attending public school in Ocala were just a preview of his colorful life story. While he elected not to pursue higher academics, he was a scholar of life's hard knocks. Nard's choices may have taken him down some rocky roads, but those who knew him saw past that. They saw a man who, despite the detours, was all heart, all charm, and all about second chances. His work history was not conventional, but Nard's real job, the one he was truly passionate about, was being a die-hard sports fan, especially when it came to basketball. He was also a self-proclaimed "grill master," and while some might debate his title, no one could deny his skills in the kitchen. That man could cook, and he did it with the same enjoyment he did everything else. Family was the center court of Nard's life, and he was the MVP when it came to spending time with his beloved four children, Myocious Williams, Travis Bracey, Angel Newson, Ken’youn Bracey, grandchildren, and a lineup of siblings that included Tara Bracey, Dexter Richardson, Latrice Bracey, Vondalle Ponder, Marlin Johnson, and Enise Johnson. Let's not forget his three aunts, one niece, three nephews, and a host of cousins and close friends. To say Nard was friendly, funny, and spirited is like saying Florida gets a “little” sunny. Those who knew him will remember his quick wit, his generous spirit, and the way he could turn even the most mundane event into a memorable moment. Nard was a Florida State University enthusiast through and through, and he bled garnet and gold. His loyalty to his team was as steadfast as his loyalty to his friends. The world has lost a true original with Nard's passing, but the echoes of his laughter will reverberate in the hearts of those who loved him. A man who could find the humor in any situation, Kenton "Nard" Bracey will be remembered not for the paths he stumbled upon but for the joyous journey he shared with all of us. So here's to Nard, the man who taught us that life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful, and that sometimes, the best thing you can do is just laugh.
