J. Richard "Dick" Crowe

Richard Crowe was born on January 20, 1929, in Swansea, Massachusetts. He went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2021, in Ocala, Florida. Richard grew up in Somerset, Massachusetts. He loved tinkering with cars and worked at his family's service station in Fall River. To Richard, there was no project beyond improvement or invention. He graduated from Somerset High School as Captain of the football team and went on to earn his degree certification in electronics and electrical engineering from the RCA Technical Institute (now Devry University). After working at Standard Coil in Taunton, Massachusetts, Richard moved his family to Mount Kisco, New York, and began a 33-year career as a research engineer and physicist with the IBM Corporation. While raising his son and daughter in Mount Kisco, Richard was an active church and community member, and Boy Scout leader. He and his loving wife, Doris, retired to Ocala, Florida, where he continued to volunteer in the church and throughout the neighborhood and community. He cherished time with his family and friends, telling stories, bad "dad jokes" and singing silly songs to his grandchildren. His trips to the hardware store were always accompanied by a doting grandchild or two and a not-so-secret trip to the ice cream shop. Everyone he met was a friend. Richard will be lovingly remembered for his altruistic nature, the joy of family, kindness to all, imagination, and sense of humor. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph Sousa Crowe and May Edna Alves Crowe. His best friend and wife of 69 years, Doris, preceded him in death. The legacy of Richard's spirit will live on through his daughter Cynthia Triggs, his son David Crowe, and niece Elaine Lynch (Jim). His six grandchildren: Christopher Triggs, Mary-Shannon Triggs, Erin Johnston (Corey), Katelyn Pike (Bill), Michelle Crowe, and Jessica Crowe. And his five great-grandchildren: Alexia, William, and Theodore Pike; Gwendolyn and Finnegan Johnston. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain. In lieu of flowers, considerations may be made to St Judes Children's Research Hospital. Memorial service will be held at 8:30 am on December 23, 2021, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala.
