D'Montae Shannon

D'Montae Shilek Shannon, affectionately known to many as "Jig," passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 25. Born on March 18, 2000, in Bradenton, Florida, D'Montae was a vibrant soul who brought laughter and rhythm into the lives of all who knew him. He spent his final moments in Reddick, Florida, although he was a resident of Ocala, where he shared countless memories with friends and family. Jig was the beloved third son of Brenda Smith Brantley and a cherished brother to Marcus Brantley, Donnell Wilson Jr. (Donloi), and Calvin Garvin. He was a beloved uncle to two nieces, Saiyr and Aurelia. Jig's laughter and light extended to a host of other relatives, including uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Music and dancing were not just hobbies for D'Montae; they were his life's passion. He earned the stage name "Shiloh Jig" for his performances that captivated everyone, especially his mom. He expressed his love for the art form by writing and composing his own music. His talents were a true reflection of his spirit—vibrant, unapologetic, and full of life. Jig LOVED the Cleveland Browns. His enthusiasm for football was infectious. He also shared precious moments bowling with his mother, where they fostered a bond over strikes, spares, and laughter. Known as the comedian of the family, D'Montae filled every room with humor and light-heartednes...a role his mother now lovingly embraces, to continue his legacy. Those who knew D'Montae would describe him as funny and spirited, qualities that are not easily forgotten. His ability to make others laugh, his infectious smile, and his unwavering positivity are the hallmarks of his memory. Jig's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the pure joy of someone who lived in the moment. As we bid farewell to D'Montae Shilek Shannon, we celebrate a life that, though brief, was lived to the fullest.
