Beryl was born on October 21, 1945, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Beryl’s life was a testament to her faith, adventurous spirit, and selflessness that touched everyone she met. Beryl’s early education in Jamaica culminated in her earning a Business diploma from Durham College of Business, a foundation that would serve her well throughout her life. Her career began as a dedicated Secretary at an Agricultural Equipment and Parts Company, where she worked for 20 years. Her passion and commitment to her work were evident, as she eventually purchased the company upon the owner’s retirement, continuing to serve the agricultural community she loved. Throughout her life, Beryl was deeply involved in her church, where she found great joy in fellowship with her church family. She was a beacon of light and love, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her children and grandchildren were the apple of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent doting on them. Beryl’s love for reading knew no bounds; she could often be found with a book in hand, lost in its pages. She was incredibly resourceful, always ready to provide support, advice, or resources to anyone in need. To many, she was the go-to person for wisdom and guidance. Travel was another of Beryl’s passions. Whether by air or car, she reveled in the joy of discovery and the beauty of sightseeing. Her adventurous soul led her to explore the US, Canada and the Caribbean, and she delighted in sharing those experiences with her family and friends. Beryl’s legacy is carried on by her loving children, Balfour Peart (Caroline), Karlene Hamilton, and Herman Hamilton (Kerrisha), her cherished grandchildren, and her devoted siblings, Mildred McCollin and Melsaida Waysome. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly. Beryl was preceded in death by her siblings, Rita Waysome, Denzil Waysome and Cynthia Harris. As we mourn the loss of Beryl Waysome, we also celebrate her remarkable life—a life lived with purpose and overflowing with love. Her memory will be forever held in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Beryl’s journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her spirit will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
