Alec Mark Sutherland

Alec Mark Sutherland, affectionately known as Suddy, was a faith-filled man who passed away on May 6, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 56. He was born on January 23, 1970, in Kingston, Jamaica, and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a steady Christian faith that guided him throughout his days. Alec was the beloved husband of Donna AnnMarie Sutherland and a devoted father to Alec Jr., Tashana, Ashon, the twins Kayla and Kiara, Avondre, and Aaron. He was also a proud grandfather to his only grandchild, Tynia, who brought him great joy. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Gloria Sutherland, who is 89 years old, and by his siblings, Terry Ellis (Kavin), Velma Sutherland, Heather Sutherland-Thomas (Victor), Millicent Sutherland-Bellamy (Michael), Maureen Sutherland-Anderson (Llewelly), and Yvonne Sutherland. He also leaves to cherish his memory his aunt, Dorrette Hussett, his uncle, Glen Roy Donaldson, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, and many friends, especially Claud Edwards, Beres Ford-Champagnie and Julius Ennis. Alec received his early education at Tivoli Comprehensive High School in Jamaica. He moved to New York in 1992 then later transitioned to Ocala, FL where attended Marion Technical College, in Ocala, Florida, where he studied Business Management and earned a certificate. His education reflected his determination to grow, learn, and build a meaningful future for himself and his family. He spent much of his working life in the construction industry, where he developed a reputation for being dependable, skilled, and resourceful. Alec was the kind of man who could fix, build, and improve almost anything, and he took great pride in using his hands to help others. One of his proudest accomplishments was building his own home, a labor of love that stood as a testament to his perseverance and ability. He moved into that home four years ago, and it remained a source of pride and comfort to him. Alec was a Christian whose faith was an important part of his life. He was a member of Marion Oaks Church of God, where he found fellowship and strength. He loved singing, especially Gospel music, and his voice and spirit brought encouragement to those around him. He was also a drummer, and music was one of the many ways he expressed his joy and devotion. Whether through song, service, or simple acts of kindness, Alec lived in a way that reflected his faith-filled heart. Those who knew Alec will remember him as a man who was practical, caring, and steadfast. He was handy, hardworking, and willing to lend a hand whenever needed. He carried himself with quiet strength and a warm spirit, and he made an impact on his family, friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a blessing, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Though his earthly journey has come to a close, Alec Mark Sutherland leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, music, and dedication. His family and friends will forever treasure the memories they shared with him, and his presence will be deeply missed. May he rest in eternal peace.
