Thurman Randall Greene

Thurman Randall Greene, a devoted husband, father, and provider passed away on November 19, 2025 at the age of 88. Randall was born in Sutton, West Virginia to Ralph and Maimie Green. He attended Sutton High School and was a Letterman on the football team as well as a Who's Who. Randall continued to earn a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky. During college, he completed the ROTC program. After graduating, he served in the US Army as a Second Lieutenant. From there he worked with International Paper Company, and continued on to have a fulfilling career in management with the DuPont Corporation for approximately 24 years. He was a professional who took immense pride in his work and rarely missed a day's work. Beyond his professional life, Randall was the family rock. He was the one that the family relied on for advice, support and direction. Randall gave his family 110%. He was also known for his deep love of his wife Mary, with whom he shared a partnership that lasted 62 years. Randall had a passion for the water and sailing which began in Kinston, North Carolina where he hand built a 26-foot sailboat. He and his wife Mary, and two children spent many memorable family years sailing the Neuse River and Pamlico Sound in Oriental, NC. After relocating to Wilmington, Delaware for work, they spent numerous years enjoying life on the Chesapeake Bay. Upon retirement, Randall and Mary fulfilled a lifelong dream of sailing the Chesapeake Bay to the Caribbean aboard their 34-foot sailboat, The Merry One. They spent approximately one year exploring the Florida Keys, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands. Randall and Mary enjoyed their later years living on the water in Sunset Beach, and Venice Island, Florida as well as his favorite place Belhaven, North Carolina. Randall is survived by his two children Jeffrey Greene and Amy Greene his four siblings June Hutchinson, Fred Greene, Delores Stimmel, Joe Greene and his three grandchildren Randall Greene, Jack Greene and Ana Pipovski. Randall is proceeded in death by his wife Mary Greene, and his parents Ralph and Maimie Green. Randall is forever in our hearts and will be deeply missed.
