Thomas F Meissner Sr.

Thomas Fredrick Meissner, Sr., 91, passed away February 23, 2024 at E.W. & Lucille Cates House (Hospice) in Ocala, Florida. He was born in Menominee, MI February 12,1933. Raised on the shore of Green Bay in Menominee he enjoyed fishing, sailing/boating with his brothers. He attended Menominee High School and was a member of the band. Tom enlisted in the National Guard/Army in 1951 and was sent for training to Camp Atterbury, IN where he married Marie Janet Blake, also of Menominee, on 4/4/53. Tom served as a Sargeant in the army and was enlisted for 12 years. He and his family were stationed in Tacoma, WA for a year. Upon his return to Menominee, he worked behind the cameras at the local TV station. Following that Tom went to work for his father at Meissner's Radio and TV as a sales and service representative. He was a member of the Rotary Club and enjoyed golfing with his friends. He and his wife moved to Florida in 1988. He worked at Riviera Cabinets in Tamarac, FL as a Warehouse Associate, then moved to Ocala in 2001. Tom always had a fascination with airplanes and began a new hobby of building, flying, and training others to fly remote controlled airplanes. He could fix anything and loved helping friends and neighbors with any and all projects. Tom deeply enjoyed his family and friends, and always entertained people with his humor wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those who crossed paths with him. He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Meissner and Mother, Theresa Neumeier, his wife, Marie Janet Meisser (Blake), and brothers Richard and Paul. He is survived by his brother, James Meissner (Peg), Sussex, WI and his sister, Susan (Meissner) Hanson (Burlington, WI), son Tom, Jr. (Diane), daughter Cindy Speck (Jim), Grandchildren Shannon (Sam) Walter, Blake Meissner, Great-Granddaughter, Emersyn and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank E.W. & Lucille Cates House in Ocala, Florida, for their compassion and exceptional care. Visitation will be held at Robert's Funeral Home, 606 SW 2nd Ave, Ocala 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, March 8th. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors, alongside his wife of 62 years, Marie Janet, at 1:30 PM at Bushnell National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Marion County, Ocala, Florida.
