Theresa Premo

Theresa (Tess) McCabe Premo, 84 of Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully on March 16, 2018 after a short illness.Born in 1934 in Malone, NY, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Anna E. (McGibbon) McCabe. As a 1952 FA graduate she attended Cortland State and graduated from Cortland Business Institute. She was a secretary for F.John MacAbee Insurance Agency for 19 years. As a licensed broker, she then managed the office for 5 more years.upon her retirement in 1986,Theresa & Ed moved to Fla. After years of research, Theresa wrote and published, "My Scottish Kin" a book that documented 10 generations of her McGibbon family history. She connected with people from all over the world and even met a distant cousin in Ireland. Her love of family and history led her to begin the McCabe family story as well. Theresa and her beloved, Ed, traveled the United States touring many historic sites and natural wonders, stopping to visit family and friends along the way. Her favorite adventure was the 3 weeks they drove around Ireland, meeting the locals, enjoying the 30 shades of green and basking in her ancestral heritage. Theresa was an avid Orlando Magic and she loved talking basketball with her sister, Kay and her grandsons. She loved swimming, gardening and playing cards. Countless hours were spent serving the community through activities with the American Legion in Malone. She served as Past President of the Auxillary Post 219. In Fla, Theresa continued her service involvement joining Women of the Moose Lodge 1929 in Ocala. She served as Star Recorder and Senior Regent. By far, Theresa's favorite thing was spending time with her loving daughter, Terri Yacano (Rick) DeVincenzo of NJ and her devoted son, William Yacano of Fla. Her cherished grandsons, Marc, Colin & Neal DeVincenzo were her pride and joy. They loved her wonderful "Nanny stories". She is survived by her adored brother, William (Judy) McCabe of Malone. She was predeceased by her two loving sisters, Katherine (Donald) Neilson and Shirley Colunio. Theresa was a special aunt to Sharon (Bruce) Kunkel, Donald (Pauline) Neilson, Tammy (Scott) Vermilye, Anna Black, Kelly Tavernier, Kim (Dave) Hearl & Jodi (Mike) Andrews and Pat South. Surviving cousins include Eleonore (John) McCabe, Priscilla (Francis) McCabe, Brent (Andrea) Stewart & Noel (Debbie) Stewart. Other survivors include step children Steve (Debbie) Premo, David (Cindy) Premo & Brian (Kim) Premo, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Other survivors include several cousins, nieces & nephews. A memorial service will be held for friends and relatives Saturday May 5 at 11:00 at Spaulding Funeral Home.
