Obituary of Sally LundyA mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, she endeavors to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts." -Washington Irving Sally Joan Lundy-Kennon passed on to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Munroe Medical Center in Ocala, Florida, surrounded by many beloved family members. She was born Sally Joan Marler to Lela Britt and Noah William Marler on June 25, 1945 in Mill Springs, Missouri. Sally attended St. Louis Public Schools in Missouri, and was a graduate of the class of 1963. She served honorably in our United States Army for 2 years and was stationed on Scotts Air Force Base in Springfield, Illinois. Throughout her life, she was an entrepreneur and proprietor of several business ventures and was known by all as an incredibly hardworking and generous lady. In 1983 Sally and her husband and partner, Jesse Kennon, took ownership of Coopertown Restaurant and Airboats in the Everglades, Miami, FL. Revitalizing, rebuilding and growing Coopertown, alongside her sons, was a source of pride and honor to Sally. She is preceded in death by a baby-daughter, Candice, her parents, three sisters, Nedra Barbre, Evelyn Marler and Jane Ortner, three brothers, Fenton Marler, Lewis Marler and Noah Marler. Sally leaves behind her husband, Jesse Kennon of Miami, Florida, son Douglas Marler and wife Laurie of Hernando, Fl, son Scott Lundy and wife, Nancy also of Hernando, Florida, son Jason Lundy of Ocala, Florida, daughter Heather Dawn Medford of Missouri, daughter Brandy Rene DeClue of Missouri, stepson Doyle Kennon and wife Dawn of Festus, Missouri and stepson Tony Kennon also of Festus, Missouri. Sally is also survived by three sisters, Betty Demming of St Louis, Missouri, Carol Goggin of Sumterville, Missouri and Lillian Eaton of Hernando, Florida and a brother James Marler of Fayetteville, NC. Sally was a mother, caregiver and confidant to many children and friends over the course of her lifetime. She was known to many as, "Grandma Sally" and will be dearly missed by 18 cherished grandchildren, 15 precious great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life and memory will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Central Ridge Community Center, 77 Civic Circle, Beverly Hills, Florida 34465, where family and friends will gather in remembrance.
