Obituary of Ruth LakitsRuth Dolores Fletke Lakits passed away peacefully on May 8, 2014 and with her loving niece at her bedside. Ruth was born on November 9, 1914 and would have been 100 years old on her birthday this year. She is survived by her son, Emerick Lakits, daughter Stephanie Flatke and family, grandson, Erick Lakits and immediate family members including nieces Barbara Banco, Susan Fletke Gruber and nephew Tommy Banco and Family. She was a long time resident of Detroit, Michigan and enjoyed a happy childhood with parents Ernest and Florence Fletke, her sister Betty and brothers Gilbert and Harry. She graduated from Northwestern High School in June, 1931 and attended Michigan State University. She was a devout Christian. She attended the Lutheran Church regularly and taught Sunday school in Detroit. She had her first full time job at the age of 16 and was a Red Cross Volunteer during World War II. She enjoyed membership at the Bayview Yacht Club, and she was a secretary at the Lutheran school and at R.J. Reynolds in Detroit before moving in the 1970's to Marion Oaks in Ocala, Florida with her husband Victor Lakits. She loved Ocala and the people and participated in various activities and organizations in and around the community including Bridge clubs, book clubs and helping with "meals on wheels". She attended and sang in the choir at Out Savior Lutheran Church. She performed clerical duties in the Early childhood Programs and Fire College at Central Florida Community College (CFCC) from 19891 to 2010. She always loved working and didn't believe in retirement. A Birthday party was being planned for her 100th birthday by family and friends coming from Michigan, Tennessee, California and Canada just months before her passing. In honor of her 100th Birthday and in celebration of her extraordinary life, a memorial service performed by Pastor Wayne A. Kofink and presided by Roberts Funeral Homes Bruce Chapel West (352)854-2266 is being held at Our Savior Lutheran Church at 260 Marion Oaks Lane Ocala, Florida on November 8, 2014 at 1:30PM We invite all those who loved and admired her to attend this Birthday Memorial Service and enjoy refreshments and a video portrait of her in the hall after the service.
