Ruth Holst-Grubbe

Born April 25, 1941 in Roseville, Michigan, Ruth “Mimi “Holst-Grubbe was heavily loved and influenced by her paternal grandfather and grandmother as well as her beloved Aunt Elaner. Throughout her life, she was an avid animal lover and wanted to save them all, which spoke to the kindness that was a cornerstone of her personality. A 50-year marriage to her first husband, Jasper Parent Myers, left her widowed, but Ruth was able to find love again with her second husband, Carl Holst-Grubbe, who passed in 2021. Her marriage to Carl brought her immense joy, and she often referred to him as her soulmate. She cultivated many deep and lifelong friendships during her time here on earth that she cherished. She was fortunate to make even more upon moving to Ocala with Carl. She enjoyed collecting rocks, beanie babies, Native American statues, and more. But these paled in comparison to the love she had for her four children: Ward, Cheryl, Mark, and Matthew. She loved being present in their lives, watching them change and grow, celebrating their victories, and loving them in the way a mother should. Ruth’s sweet and innocent nature was often leveraged by those around her who loved to prank her. She took it in stride and was often the one laughing hardest in the room. Ruth is preceded in death by her two husbands, Jasper Myers and Carl Holst-Grubbe, her parents, Leroy Hooper and Jeanette Sandquist, and her two brothers, Dean Hooper and Carl Hooper. She leaves behind her four children Ward Myers, Cheryl, (Patrick) Wise, Mark Myers, and Matthew Myers, as well as one nephew, Brandon Hooper. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren David Myers, Courtney (Gary) Larson, Joshua (Megan) Wise, Zachary (Allisha) Wise, Jordan Myers, Ashley Myers, Jacob Myers, Amberly Myers, Noah Myers, Aaron Poidevin, Joshua (Ash) Myers, and Nickolas Myers. Lastly, Ruth leaves behind six great grandchildren: Rader, Jaycee, Ares, Preston, Maverick, and Jace. Because of Ruth‘s personal relationship with Jesus Christ and acceptance of His salvation, her family takes comfort in knowing that this separation is only temporary. We love you, mom, Mimi, Ruth!
