Roberta Jo Patton

Roberta Jo Patton, known as Bobo to her family and Momma Jo to her many friends, entered eternal rest on June 21, 2025, at the age of 96. She lived a long, full life, often on her own terms, and left behind stories that will be told for years to come. She was a woman of strong will, sharp observations, and little patience for nonsense. In her later years, she made her home at Hawthorne Estates and Hawthorne Inn ALF, where she proudly roamed the halls, being as nosey as she pleased, and kept her TV at a volume that ensured no one nearby missed a word of her favorite shows. She was a proud member of Maranatha Baptist Church of Ocala. Born on March 19, 1929, she was part of a generation known for grit and perseverance and she embodied both. She wasn’t one for fuss or frills, and she rarely left anything unsaid. While she had a tough exterior, she cared deeply, in her own way, and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Patton; her daughter, Carol Jo Tinch; her step-son, Tom Patton, and sister Pauline Compton. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Patton; her step-son, Henry Patton and wife Doris Patton; sister; Linda Collins, brother; Ira Skeens and wife Edna Skeens, her grandchildren: Tom, Paula, Christopher, Michael, Jessica, Dawn, Shane, and Shawn and numerous great-grandchildren. She may not have been soft-spoken or sentimental, but she was fiercely independent, occasionally ornery, and always true to herself. Her family will miss her unique spirit, her commentary on absolutely everything, and the unmistakable sound of her TV echoing through the walls. Though her ways could be tough, she taught us resilience in the face of hardship and left us with a legacy of grit and independence. A graveside committal service will be held Monday, June 30, 2025 at 2:00pm at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens located at 5050 SW 20th St, Ocala, FL 34474.
