Robert James “Bob” Barr, 84, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026. Bob was born and raised in York Village, Maine, a place that always held a special spot in his heart. He was the son of the late Harold Lloyd Barr and Ruth Lillian Emerson. He went on to serve his country with pride as a member of the United States Army and later with the Air National Guard, experiences that shaped his strong sense of duty and character throughout his life. While completing his military service, Bob built a long and respected career as a crane inspector at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. After retiring, he and his beloved wife, Joanne, embraced a new chapter together as owners and operators of the Midway Motel in Cornish, Maine, where they welcomed guests with warmth and hospitality. In later years, they relocated to Ocala, Florida, to enjoy their retirement. Bob will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Joanne Barr of Ocala; his sons Gary and his wife Pat Barr of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Glenn and his wife Dorianne Barr of East Kingston. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Barr, and is also survived by Scott’s wife, Maureen Barr of York, Maine. He leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren—Chris Barr, Matt Barr, Rebekah Barr, Tabitha Barr, Joshua Barr, Moriah Barr, and Katie Barr—and one great-grandchild, Evie Barr. Bob will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and unmistakable sense of humor. He loved telling stories and never passed up the chance to entertain an audience. He was also known for his impressive moves on the dance floor, rarely missing an opportunity to dance and bring joy to those around him. A skilled handyman, he was always ready to lend a hand to neighbors and friends, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. His legacy of laughter, generosity, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of those he touched. There are no services scheduled at this time. Robert's urn will be buried at a cemetery in Maine at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Robert's of Ocala, 606 SW 2nd Ave, Ocala, Florida 34471.
