Richard Goolsby

Richard "Rick" Haynes Goolsby, 75, born November 19, 1945 in Sanford, Lee County, North Carolina to Allton Arras Goolsby and Esther Belle Haynes Goolsby, passed away May 21, 2021 in Belleview, Marion County, Florida. Rick served in US Navy 515 River Division, during Vietnam War; Received Metal of Commendation with Combat. After 35 years of owning and operating Belleview Building Materials and serving as President of the Florida Lumber and Building Material Association, he retired in 2016. After that he could be found with a golf club or fishing rod in his hand! He was active in the church, City of Belleview, as well as various charities. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.Rick was preceded in death by both parents, Allton A. Goolsby and Esther Belle Goolsby; his Brother, Carlton Goolsby; and sister in law Eddie Goolsby, and beloved Aunts and Uncles.He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Dickens Goolsby; His children, Denise Gibson (Don), Debbie Gilmer (Scott), and Mike Pounds (Rayna) and his 9 grandchildren and their spouses. His Brother Donald Goolsby (Barbara); his sister Barbara Musleh (Victor) and Sister-in-Law, Lynn Goolsby and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation Gathering will be held from 5PM -7PM, Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the Second Chance Church, 13405 SE County Highway 484, Belleview, Florida 34420. A Celebration of Life will begin 11 AM, Wednesday, May 26, 2021, also at the church, with Pastor Steve Juliano officiating. A Graveside Service will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34480. The Marion County Honor Guard will be in attendance graveside to render full military honors in recognition of Rick's faithful and dedicated service to a grateful nation.
