Patricia B Kingwell

Patricia Baldwin Kingwell, wife of the late Richard A. Kingwell, passed away at the age of 86, on Friday, February 17, 2023, after a brief illness. Born in Washington D.C. She was the daughter of the late Gladys E. and James T. Baldwin of Lancaster, PA where she spent most of her life. She moved to Ocala, FL in 1998 and married her high school sweetheart, Richard. She loved living in Florida but hated being so far away from her family who lived up North. She was a graduate of Millersville University in Pennsylvania; she taught elementary school in Pennsylvania and Maryland. She later returned to college in Massachusetts in a Liberal Arts program. While there, she tutored freshman English Composition and became a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society, National Deans List for Community Colleges. In 1994 she spent a year as a guest columnist for the Wilmington News in Delaware and published some stories and a poem. She raised her 5 children as a top selling Tupperware Sales Manager for Bonanza Sales Company in Paoli, PA and was also a Realtor in both Maryland and Delaware. She was an avid genealogist, devoting much time to that and to recording family stories and photos passed down through the generations. She also enjoyed participating in the 'Mermaids' swim club at the Ocala YMCA, playing the piano, feeding the birds, squirrels and racoons in her beautiful back yard and watching Jeopardy and Forensic Files daily. She loved learning new things and was always looking for new ways to challenge herself. After being diagnosed with macular degeneration, she learned to read and write Braille, having begun her lessons in both when she was in her 70's and earned the Student of The Year award by the Hadley School for the Blind for making such advanced progress in her Braille studies. Pat loved her family so very much, telling her children often that they were her greatest life achievement. She will be so very missed. She is survived by her loving children, John David Henkel of Providence, RI; Kevin Joseph Henkel (Susan Rohrbach) of Darlington, MD; Susan Maria Henkel Lamkins (Christopher Lamkins) of Amesbury, MA; Robert Anthony Henkel of Salisbury, MD and James Todd Baldwin Henkel of Rising Sun, MD. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Zara Henkel (Tanner) Russell, Alexander Henkel, Amelia Henkel, Kevin Henkel, Maxfield Henkel, Joshua Lamkins and Chloe Henkel, and one great-granddaughter, Avina Rose Russell. She is also survived by one sister, Barbara B. Donovan, Wernersville, PA and a brother-in-law, Carroll Swenson of Paoli, PA. and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Richard Allan Kingwell of Ocala, FL, three sisters and a brother-in-law; Sally Wiker of Ephrata, PA.; Catherine Hugo and her husband William Hugo of Clinton, NY; Diana Swenson of Paoli, PA. She also left behind a sister-in-law, Sue Hale of Ocala and three step-daughters, Donna (Doug) Shelton of Morriston; Diane (Greg) Tabor of Ocala and Debbie (Bill) Browder of Ocala. A memorial service will be held privately by her children. In lieu of flowers she has requested donations be made to a friend or family member who needs help or to the Salvation Army or any Hospice. The family would like to kindly thank the kindness, caring and help of Marion County Hospice.
