Nancy Gonzalez

The angels received one of their own at 11:25 pm on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Nancy Ann (Hartsoe) Gonzalez was born on July 12, 1944, in Winston Salem, NC to Ivan and Mary Jane Hartsoe. She grew up in the Sedge Garden area in the care of her grandparents, Gideon and Rachel Hartsoe and her aunt Connie Hartsoe. She graduated from Griffith High School in 1962, after which she joined the Air Force, moved to Texas and met the love of her life, Manuel Eusebio Gonzalez. They were married for 55 years and from that union came three children, Consuelo Delinda Ingledue, Patricia Ann Davies and Manuel Eusebio Gonzalez Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, sister Arlene Beddard, brother James Hartsoe and a grandson, Ian Doyel Davies. She leaves behind her husband, daughters and a son as well as grandchildren Zachary and Ian-Michael McConnell, Lauren and Raechel Ingledue, Nicole, Colin, Sean, and Connor Davies and Alex Gonzalez, her elder sister, Louise Clayborne, multiple cousins who were like brothers and sisters, and son-in-law Paul Ingledue.Nancy served three years in the Air Force at Amarillo Air Station in Amarillo, Texas. She then pursued her Associates Degree in Accounting and worked for the Air Force as a federal civil servant for 18 years, retiring in 2006.Nancy possessed a no- nonsense pragmatism mixed with a great sense of humor. She loved to knit and crochet, making afghans for her children and clothes for her grandchildren. She loved to try new and appetizing recipes and create delicious desserts while listening and singing along with her country western tunes and Southern Baptist hymns. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and was fiercely committed to living a good Christian life and setting a positive example for her children. In the last two years of her life she received a huge amount of joy from her two-year-old grandson Alex. Seeing him never failed to make her smile.A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to St Jude's hospital 501 St Jude Place. Memphis, TN. 38105 as that was her favorite charity.
