Mina Louise (Mims) Frank

In memory of the 1-year anniversary of her passing.... Mina was born in Binghamton, New York, to Roger and Louise Gingrich. After high school, she received her certificate as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) after moving to Tampa, Florida. There she married James D. Mims and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, so James could attend the University of Tennessee. Jennifer was born there in 1971. Then, they moved to Ocala, Florida, in 1973 and had Ryan in 1981. They had two children together - Jennifer Mims Moorehead and Ryan Mims, both of Ocala, Florida. Mina was also blessed with 5 grandchildren. Mina later went back to school and received her associates degree for a registered nurse (RN) from the College of Central Florida. Mina and James were married for 29 years and then Mina remarried. Nursing was Mina's passion because she loved helping people. Over the years, she worked at Marion Community Hospital, owned her own home health business, worked as a hospice nurse and as a chemo nurse for Ocala Oncology. Unfortunately, she had to end her career as a nurse after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and later being paralyzed due to a surgery on her spine. In spite of all of this, she always remained positive and lived by the motto, "It could always be worse!" She is remembered for her strength, bravery, positivity, intelligence, and for her commitment as a nurse who went above and beyond for her patients. She was also an amazing mother and Grammie who is missed so much. Besides Mina's passion for nursing, she also loved reading and animals. Her final wish was her hope that everyone love God as much as she did. If you feel compelled, please donate to an animal shelter, adopt an animal, donate some books to a nursing home or hospital or make a donation in her name to the American Nurses Foundation. You can also donate to Meadowbrook Church of Ocala where she was a member and fellow members frequently visited Mina when she was no longer able to attend. Mom (Grammie), This year has been so hard for us. There is a void in our lives now that can never be filled. We were so so fortunate to have a close bond with you. We miss your advice, your love, hugs, and kisses. We will cherish all our long conversations that we had and will never forget them. You are an inspiration and our hero. We will always keep your memory alive. Our hearts ache but also are happy that you are now in your new repaired body and can now walk and even run. Praise God, you are whole again.
