Marjorie O. Smith

Marjorie (Sister) O'Quinn Smith, 74 , passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022 at Advent Hospital in Ocala, FL. Weary of reading obituaries noting someone's courageous battle with death, Sister wanted it known that she died being stubborn, refusing to follow doctors orders and living her life to the fullest for more than seven decades. Marjorie was born on January 21, 1948 in Houston, TX to loving parents Clayton and Marjorie O'Quinn. She loved being a part of a huge family with many siblings as well as the many foster children her parents raised on their dairy farm. She was a graduate of Spring High School, Spring TX in 1967 then moving to Ocala with her parents to manage Grosse Pointe Stud Farm. She married Victor "Bill" William Smith Jr. on November 28, 1970 in Ocala, FL. She worked at Sears Roebuck for several years before going to work with family at Grosse Pointe Stud Farm to manage the front office. She later transitioned to Ocala Breeders Sales Company where she was the sales bookkeeper, retiring in 2010. She always had her office decorated for the different holidays and everyone knew where to find snacks while on OBS grounds. "Sister" truly loved life to its fullest through simple pleasures. Her love language was baking her incredible desserts and making sure everyone was full. She also loved chatting with friends and family about her twin grandchildren or fishing stories with Bill. And she found pleasure tending to her many plants in her yard. She was preceeded in death by her spouse "Bill" of 49 years and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Ashley Dyan Harris (Price); grandchildren and the "apples of her eye" Raelyn & Wyatt Boutwell; siblings Janis O'Quinn, Dennis O'Quinn, Louis Rogers, Patsy Caruthers (Troy), Patrick O'Quinn, Mike O'Quinn (Judy) and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held for Marjorie "Sister" Smith on Friday February 11, 2022 from 10:00-12:00 at Roberts Funeral Home East, Bruce Chapel 2739 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala, FL 34471. Following the celebration of Life a reception will be held at Ocala Breeder Sales 1701 SW 60th Avenue, Ocala FL 34474. The family request you come as you are, no coats & ties.
