Obituary of John RaymondJohn Morton Raymond, II, age 76, was born in Boston, MA. He was called home on September 21, 2007 after a valiant battle with prostate cancer. True to form, he demonstrated great courage and dignity as he fought the disease. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church and graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in engineering. Jack, as he liked to be called, resided most of his life in Reading, MA until moving to Oak Run Country Club in Ocala, 11 years ago. He was employed by General Electric (formerly R.C.A), serving as Program Administrator for 30 years. He exemplified integrity, honesty and was always willing to help those in need. He was the 2006 volunteer of the year for Madison Street Academy where his grandchildren attended school. He was actively involved in the Oak Run Twirlers and taught square dancing. He was also a regular attendee at the Ocala Breeders Thoroughbred Sales and had an admiration and fondness for horses and dogs. He cherished traveling with his family to New England and particularly enjoyed Nantucket Island, Ogunquit, ME, Woodstock, VT and the fall foliage of the White Mountains of NH. He was a gourmand, and knew all of the finest restaurants at which to dine, especially in New England. He loved Maine lobster and steamed clams at Barnacle Billys in Ogunquit, ME, and was their most loyal longstanding customer for over 40 years. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving daughters, Darcy A. Raymond Morton of Ocala, FL and Claudette A. Raymond of Kittery, ME; nieces, Marisa Moore of Reading, MA and Stacy Moore of Byfield, MA; grandchildren, Samantha A. Morton and Maxwell A. Morton both of Ocala, FL. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Raymond Moore in 1986. A private family service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Boston Area at the Raymond family plot est. 1879.
