Jean Alice Luther

Jean Alice Luther, 81, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the E.W. & Lucille Cates’ Hospice House in Ocala, Florida. Jean was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Herman Buford “Boots” Shiver and Jessie Shelton Shiver on August 8, 1943. Jean went to high school at Williston High School and graduated in 1961. Jean worked for the United Telephone Company (aka Sprint) for 39 years. Jean enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, word and jigsaw puzzles, and playing games with her family. Jean is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Luther, of Ocala, Florida. Jean was preceded in death by her son, Allen Stuart Reyna, her parents, and her brother, Buford Allen “Len” Shiver, along with many other beloved friends, family members, and pets. Jean is survived by an expansive family which includes her daughter: Pamela Todd (Billy); her grandchildren: Misty Reyna, Jennifer Darley (Jason), Jeffrey Hopkins (Camille), Kristina Reyna, Karen Dykes, and Alyson Hopkins (Jessie); her great grandchildren: Georgi, Robert, William, Jamie, Jaklyn, Rory, Isabella, Paige, Jordyn, Aidyn, Kailyn, Kennedy, River, Addison, Gideon, and Madalynn; great-great grandchildren: J’henavieve, Laylah, and Riley; siblings: Barbara “Bobbi” Little (Jimmie), Terri Barber, Jeanette Morrison (Joe), and Raymond Shiver; nieces and nephews: Timothy, Jason, Jessica, Randi, Jamie, Tony, Andy, Blake, Jay, Matthew, Jonathan, Monte, Alex, Clayton and Brette; and many great nieces and nephews, and extended family members. Jean’s funeral will be held at Roberts Funeral Home West Chapel, 6241 SW State Road 200, Ocala, FL, on March 22, 2025. Visitation with the family will start at 1:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Alan Permenter of Sparr Baptist Church officiating. Following her service, family and friends will gather for fellowship at a separate location to be announced at the service. Memorial Donations may be made to E.W. & Lucille Cates’ Hospice House, 9505 SW 110th Street, Ocala, FL 34481. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Cates’ Hospice House and its staff, along with the Advent Health Intensive Care Unit’s doctors and nurses, who provided kind and compassionate care during Jean’s final days. These individuals provided Jean with dignity and her family with comfort that will forever be remembered.
