James Fredrick Fennell

James Fennell, known lovingly to family and friends as Jimmy, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 83. Born on February 10, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, he lived a life marked by warmth, humor, and an easy ability to make others feel welcome. He was the kind of man who could walk into any room and leave it brighter, and his memory will continue to bring comfort to all who knew and loved him. Jimmy was the beloved husband of Camille Nancy Campisi-Fennell, and together they shared a life built on devotion, family, and enduring companionship. He was a proud father to Gina Fennell, and her husband David, and Joann Hodge, and her husband Casey. He was also a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather whose love extended across generations. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Nicole Smith (Clayton), Trent Patterson (Amanda), Tyler Hodge (Sarah), Talon Patterson, Ayla Patterson, Rocker Smith, Paisley Hodge, Bristol Smith, Brooklyn Smith, and Layton Smith. He is also survived by a host of other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Jeff Fennell, and by his parents, John and Emily Fennell. Jimmy earned an associate degree in Business and went on to build a career in professional sales. His work reflected the same qualities that defined his personal life. He was engaging, dependable, and gifted at connecting with people from all walks of life. He had a natural talent for conversation and a genuine interest in others, which made him successful in his profession and beloved in his community. He never met a stranger, and he had a way of making even brief encounters feel meaningful. Outside of work, Jimmy enjoyed bowling and dancing, both of which suited his lively spirit and his love of being around people. He especially loved the Tampa Bay Rays and followed them with enthusiasm. He was known for his happy-go-lucky personality, his talkative nature, and his wonderful sense of humor. Funny was the word that best described him, but it only begins to capture the joy he brought to those around him. He had a gift for laughter, and he used it generously, often lifting others simply by being himself. As the poet Maya Angelou once wrote, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Jimmy made people feel valued, welcomed, and loved, and that is a legacy that will endure. Though he is no longer with us, the stories, smiles, and special moments he created will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by Camille, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends. May he rest in peace, and may his memory remain a source of comfort and gratitude to all who mourn his passing.
