Gloria Jeanne Hilt

Gloria Jeanne (Blake) Hilt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and devoted, community volunteer, passed away leaving behind a legacy defined by service, loyalty, and deep family love. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Gloria's life was shaped by adventure, resilience, and the strong bonds she built wherever she lived. On July 15, 1950, she married the love of her life, George "Tom" Hilt, USN Retired. Together they built a life marked by dedication to family and to the military communities they served. Their partnership spanned decades, countless moves, and a shared commitment to helping others. She was the proud mother of four children: Bruce (Jade) Hilt, Linda (Dave) McClintic, Lori (Paul -dec) Villarruel, and Lisa (Steve) Korpus. Her joy multiplied with eight grandchildren Gina Green, Steven (Gloria) Korpus, Carlee (Mike) Gruizinga, Katee (Villarruel) Moore, Heather (Igor) Acacio, Geoff (Kristy) Hilt, and Alex (Megan) Hilt, Cody Korpus - and seven great-grandchildren: Emily, Jenna, Abby, Eleanor, Jenson, Stella, and Ross. Gloria cherished each of them, celebrating their milestones and nurturing their dreams. A lifelong volunteer, Gloria gave her time generously across the country as her family followed Navy assignments. Her service included: Red Cross Grey Lady, U.S. Naval Hospital, Agana, Guam Navy Relief Society, Great Lakes, Illinois Nurses Aid and Clinic Assistant, Great Lakes Naval Hospital Red Cross Blood Bank volunteer, Milford, Michigan Hospital Volunteer, Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas Her leadership extended into numerous clubs and organizations, where she held roles such as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. These included the Milford Monday Literary Club (Michigan), Rio Grande Valley Ladies Club of Al Amin (Texas), Valley Nile Club (Texas), New Comers Club Mississippi), Kingdom of the Sun (Florida), and the Retired Officers Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) in Ocala, Florida. Her reliability, warmth, and organizational talent made her a treasured member of every community she joined. Gloria's life was also marked by a unique and joyful family connection: she was an identical twin to her sister, June (Blake) Allison. That bond continued into the next generation her daughter-in-law Jade is also an identical twin, and Gloria delighted in the twin grandsons, Geoff and Alex, who carried on the family tradition. She will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering support of military families, her devotion to service, and the deep pride she took in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gloria Jeanne Hilt lived a life of purpose, generosity, and love—one that will continue to inspire all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to have donations sent to Hospice of Marion County.
