Mr. Funlola Falade

Oluwafunlola Oluwabukunmi Falade, departed this world on October 31, 2023, at the age of 31. Leaving behind a legacy woven with purpose and passion. Born and raised in Gainesville, FL, he proudly embraced his Nigerian heritage. He graduated in 2014 from the University of Central Florida (UCF), Orlando with a BA in Public Relations, Advertising and Applied Communication. Shortly after graduation he relocated to Sanford, FL. Funlola's megawatt smile, infectious laugh, effervescent charisma, zeal for life innately drew others to his light. He was a natural encourager, who knew no stranger. His childlike spirit and playful heart would transform mundane life into priceless memories. He had a committed prayer life. He would diligently seek the face of God on behalf of his friends, family, loved ones and their loved ones. He lived a life of faith, in both word and deed. At the center of Funlola’s identity was his love for his family. He leaves behind his beloved parents, Christopher and Christianah, his adoring siblings, Seyi and Seun, his wonderful nieces, Temitayo and Temiloluwa, and a loving community of family, friends, and church members. Funlola would describe himself as a multifaceted individual—a servant of God, a man committed to his family & community, a product manager, a writer, and a businessman. His given name, Oluwafunlola, carried a profound significance, echoing the essence of Deuteronomy 8:18, "God has given me the power to make wealth." In the tapestry of his life, Funlola seamlessly blended his professional accomplishments with his spiritual calling. Funlola's entrepreneurial spirit, professional pursuits and ministerial involvement and achievements were all guided by a deep commitment to making a difference in the world. Driven by purpose, Funlola founded Quarterwear in 2014 to celebrate the heritage of racial and ethnic groups. In 2023, Funlola relaunched Quarterwear and repositioned the Merci collection to celebrate Haiti and positively impact lives in Haiti and the U.S. Always conscious of life beyond the workplace, Funlola's volunteer experiences stood as a testament to his belief in the power of community and service. His involvement in various initiatives—such as food drives, anti-poverty programs and active involvement with organizations like HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership) enabled him to channel his desire to give back. Funlola always underscored his commitment to serving the less fortunate, advocate for social justice and his desire to contribute to positive change.
