Obituary of Edward HeinEdward Robert Hein, 73, passed away on April 7, 2008 in Ocala, Florida. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 6, 1934. He graduated from Frankford High school in 1952 and from Drexel Institute of Technology in 1957 with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He did his Graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of ROTC during college years and served as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He worked for National Lead Corp., Heights Town, NJ, Exide battery Corp. in Yardley, PA, and Exide battery Corp., Reading PA. He retired in 1996. He was awarded recognition for two U.S. Patents in March 1992 and December 1994.Ed was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Southampton, PA, Family of God Lutheran Church in Buckingham, PA, (active in building a new Church) Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shillington, PA, and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Ocala, FL.He was a member and Past President of Buckingham Sports Car Club in PA, event organizer for Heart of Bucks Auto Show and New Hope Auto Show in Pa, and a member of ShutterBugs Camera Club of OTOW in Ocala, FL. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home across the U.S., Canada and into Alaska. He also traveled to Europe, China, Mexico, and the Panama Canal. His hobbies included reading, photography, symphony, theatre, and computer programs. He is survived by his wife Linda Phillips Hein of Ocala, FL; son, Erik M. Hein of Washington, D.C.; brother, Eric W. & Barbara Hein, nephew Eric John Hein, niece Kristen Hein, all of Birdsboro, PA; uncles Ken Heden of Oak Run, Ocala, Fl. and Bob Heden of Marietta, GA ; Cousins, Bob Heden, Jr. Marietta, Ga. , Eleanor Capaldi, William Capaldi both of Southampton, NJ; sisters in law, Ruth Fields and Grace Phillips both of Frackville, PA .He was preceded in death by first wife, Susan Kay Stauffer Hein, mother, Sylvia Marie Heden Hein and his father, Edward J. Hein. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, P.O. Box 550985, Tampa, FL 33655-9949.
