Doris Marie Whetter

Doris Marie Whetter, age 95, of Ocala, Florida, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022. She was born on Dec. 31, 1926, to Victor and Jewell (Davis) Bubar in Detroit, Michigan, where she was raised. She also spent time on her grandparents' farm in Bad Axe, Michigan. She was wed to Robert Whetter in 1950, and the family moved to Ocala, Florida, in 1973. After attending business school and becoming proficient in the secretarial field, she worked as a secretary until retirement at the age of 80. Doris was involved in her church. She was instrumental in implementing the Sunday school program and enjoyed teaching children. She served the church as an Elder and Deacon. She was the last remaining charter member of the Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church. She was extremely passionate about music and was involved with Sweet Adelines, Marion Harmony, Good Vibrations, as well as her church choir. She is survived by her children Janis (Chuck) Reamsma, Nancy (Larry) Shotwell, Lynn (Randy) Langley, and Scott (Pam) Whetter; grandchildren Jimmy (Michelle) Crews, Kimberly, Kristopher (Jessy) Shotwell, Kelsey (Cliff) Rolls, and Blake Whetter; great-grandchildren Jimmy Lance and Ava Crews; Noah and Andrew Rolls, brother Thomas (Joanne) Bubar; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Doris was compassionate and often brought encouragement and joy to many with her beautiful smile and listening ear. 56 She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, of 52 years, son Robert Brian Whetter, father Victor Bubar, mother Jewell Swiercz, and stepfather Noah Swiercz. A celebration of Doris' life will be officiated by Pastor Alan Cummings of Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church, on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at 12 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home (East Chapel), 2739 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala, Florida. A visitation will take place at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala, Florida.
