Doris Crowe

Doris Fairclough Crowe was born on February 25, 1929 in Fall River, Massachusetts and went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2018 while at Legacy House in Ocala, FL. She was 89 years old.Doris Crowe cherished her family and friends. An impromptu Sunday afternoon picnic with her children, a winter weenie roast in the fireplace, a trip to the ice cream shop with her grandchildren, sitting on the sidelines cheering for a grandchild and knitting blankets to donate - memories were always being made.Doris grew up in Somerset, Massachusetts and graduated from Somerset High School having studied for a career in bookkeeping. While in school, she met and fell in love with Richard Crowe and on May 21, 1949, they were married. Richard's career took them to Mount Kisco, New York, where they settled and raised their family. She was a generous woman - continuously active in the Mt. Kisco community as a Girl Scout leader, a volunteer at the St. Francis of Assisi church, as well as community and school festivals and fundraisers. Doris and Richard retired to Ocala, FL, where she continued to be active in the church and the Oak Run community.Doris will be remembered and celebrated with love and fondness for her great sense of humor, faith, creativity, and insightful wisdom. She was a marvelous baker - best apple pie on the East Coast! Grandchildren in dorm rooms across the country rejoiced when her care packages arrived. No chocolate chip cookies or rice krispie treat was left behind. The legacy of Doris's spirit will live on through her husband of 69 years, J. Richard Crowe; her daughter Cynthia Triggs, son David Crowe, and niece Elaine Lynch (Jim). Her six grandchildren - Christopher Triggs, Mary-Shannon Triggs, Erin Johnston (Corey), Katelyn Pike (Bill), Michelle Crowe , and Jessica Crowe; and her three great-grandchildren - Alexia Pike, William Pike and Gwendolyn Johnston. She also leaves behind many beloved friends, especially Donna Murphy Crowe. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John & Georgiana Thibault Fairclough and her brother Raymond.A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, FL with inurnment services to follow at Good Shephard Memorial Gardens in Ocala, FLIn lieu of flowers, Doris requests considerations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, www.stjude.org "We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain"
