Diana Lynn Chorpening

On Wednesday September 1, 2021, our loving princess Diana Lynn (Butler) Chorpening,61, blessed us with her last smile, just one day after the anniversary of the death of Princess Di, her favorite celebrity icon. She battled cancer for the past 16 months but she never let that hold her back. When faced with challenges, she would say "It is what it is", smile and move on. She prayed to God every night for another day, and gave Him thanks every morning when she awoke. She celebrated every minute she had left with her family and loved ones. Her last breath was taken on her terms, at home, surrounded by those who love her dearly. Diana was born May 2, 1960 in Modesto, California to Elmer and Georgia Butler. She and her two siblings, Jon and Teresa, were all military brats and moved frequently around the world. She later became a military spouse and travelled even more. She often boasts how she had three children on three different continents. She thoroughly enjoyed working in retail at Kmart, JCPenny, BassPro Shop and Sears. Mostly, she loved her co-workers many of which became lifelong friends. Her passions were to travel and read. She was an HGTV fanatic which equated to watching TV 24/7. She loved being outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with her brother-in-law Greg, who adored her deeply. She loved adventure, even in the face of death; she lived the last five months of her life trying to complete her "bucket list". She was content and was loved by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her father, Elmer J. Butler Jr. and her daughter Cynthia Beck Guillory. She is survived by her mother, Georgia Butler of Silver Springs, Florida, sons Chip and Joe Chorpening both of St. Petersburg, Florida, grandson DeAndre Beck of Lake Charles, Louisiana, brother Jon(Shana) Butler of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sister Teresa (Greg) Short of Ocala, Florida, nephew Tristan Short and niece Sierra Short of Ocala, Florida, and close family friend Sam Veale of Ocala, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Friday September 10, 2021 12pm at Roberts Bruce Chapel East, 2739 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala, Florida 34471.
