Obituary of Dennis CauthenDennis "Mike" Cauthen, 57, of Sparr, passed away, surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home Monday, September 2, 2013. He was born to James and Rose Cauthen in Ocala, FL. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, and wife of 39 years, Dianne Cauthen; son, Benjamin (Jennifer) Cauthen, of Ocala; daughter, Rabecca (Dale) Hall, of Sparr; grandson, Grady Hall; sister, Elaine Page, of Sparr; brother, Jerry (Karen) Cauthen, of Sparr; brother, Greg (Diana) Cauthen, of Sparr; and sister, Susan Adams, of Ocala. Living in one area all of his life, Mike made many strong ties. He was a family man and always remained close to his parents and siblings. He had many childhood friendships that lasted a lifetime.Mike was the proud owner of DMC Industries. He was actively involved in his trade, serving as past president of Florida Association of Electrical Contractors (FAEC), Florida Electrical Association (FEA), and North Central Florida Water Well Association (NCFWWA). Mike was also part of the legislative committee for the electric industry in Tallahassee.Everyone that knew Mike, could see what a hard-working man he was. He took pride in his work, and did everything with integrity. He knew how to do numerous jobs right and he would always take the time to explain it to you if you were willing to listen.What an adventurous man Mike was! He never hesitated to travel to new places and try new things. He took many trips and enjoyed countless hobbies. From diving in Indonesia, fishing and zip-lining in Costa Rica, elk hunting in Colorado, white water rafting in Honduras, to spear fishing in the Gulf, he lived life to the fullest.Mike was an extremely intelligent and talented man. He spent a lot of time building things with his hands like well rigs, an airboat, trailers and vintage cars. He also built the home for his family, which they lived in for the past twenty years, and renovated his daughter's home. Mike was inquisitive and if he didn't know something, he would find out. He never stopped learning.There won't be a day that Mike is not thought of. We all have so many fond memories of our time with him.
