OBITUARY Christopher Bartholomew Forsythe Sunrise: August 15, 1954 to Sunset: August 20, 2021 Christopher Bartholomew Forsythe was born to the late Helen DeBerry-Forsythe and Louis Forsythe, Sr. in Detroit, Michigan August 15, 1954. Chris accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized on Sunday, April 7, 1963, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was a member for over 50 years. It was at Pleasant Grove that his spiritual foundation was formed and where he served on the Deacon Board, lead prayer and hymns, sung in the choir, and attended Sunday School. His spiritual guidance was inspired by Sister Daisey Reed, Mother Ruth Brown, and Rev. Pecola Bell. It was also at Pleasant Grove where he met his devoted wife of 24 years, Celeste. Chris was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing football while attending Henry Ford High School, and college at Western Michigan University. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Lions and the University of Michigan Wolverines. He also had a great love of music, traveling, and singing. While at Western, he and his good friend Ted Forrest formed a singing group "The Detroit Players" and they were so good, they were the closing act for talent shows and won several of them. Chris was an Assistant Defense Coach for Cass Tech High School where he had the opportunity to coach his younger brother, Bernard. Chris was a "Man of Many Seasons." He worked as a Foreman for Cadillac Motors (Detroit, MI), Painter (Atlanta, GA.), Senior Lab Technician for Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak, MI). He loved bowling and bowled on the GM men's league, and bowled on other leagues with his wife Celeste. Chris counted it a blessing to be the father of three sons - Chris D., Mike, and Josh, and he took an active role with each of his sons, especially when it came to sports.. He was always their #1 fan. Chris served in the United States Army. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. - Epsilon XI Chapter, Western Michigan University. Chris retired from Beaumont after 14 years in 2013, and relocated to Ocala, Florida in 2014 with his wife Celeste, where he could enjoy the warm weather all year round. Chris received his heavenly wings to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 20, 2021 with his loving and devoted wife by his side. Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Helen DeBerry-Forsythe and Louis Forsythe, Sr.; and his younger brother, Bernard Baruch Forsythe. Chris leaves cherished memories to his loving wife, Celeste, his three sons Christopher DeAngelo (Teanna), Michael (Heather), and Joshua; four grand-children Imani, Christopher Jr., Chase, and Jada; one brother Louis (Jacqueline), Mother-in-Law Ruth M. Ross, Sister-in-Law Myra (Robert) Richardson, Brother-in-law Brian (Charla) Ross Sr., Sister-in-Law Karen Forsythe; nephews Matthew and Brian Jr.; nieces Claudette, Cara, Shannon, Karina, Ayana, Shivani, Jamila, Mauricea, and a host of family and friends. A visitation will be held at Robert's Funeral Homes Bruce Chapel West, 6241 SW State Road 200, Ocala on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 3PM to 7PM. The service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, September 3, 2021 beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow the service at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, 5050 SW 20th Street, Ocala. GO BLUE!
