Brenda Adriane Sykes

Brenda Adriane Sykes, 70, of Ocala, Florida, completed her earthly journey on Sunday, January 4, 2026, and entered the arms of her Heavenly Father, whom she loved and spoke of so often. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, Brenda touched the lives of all who knew her. Her vibrant spirit was a gift—she found joy in song, including sharing her voice as a member of the O.M. Hawkins Singers; brought lightness with her dance, and could light up any room with her wonderful sense of humor. A faithful friend and a cherished member of her community, she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. To commemorate her incredible journey and celebrate the love she spread, a memorial service will be held in her honor. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering Brenda. Brenda was born on May 16, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, the firstborn of Frank Clarence Fleming and Deloris Fleming. She was raised in Cleveland and later moved to Ocala, Florida. A graduate of Lake Weir High School (1973), she went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from Central Florida Community College. Brenda dedicated herself to caring for others as a Nurse’s Aide in Ocala and Atlanta. In her later years, she found deep fulfillment as a homemaker, creating a warm and loving space for her family. Brenda’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, and fiancé, always offering unwavering support and love. Creative at heart, she enjoyed art and crafting things with her hands. She had a curious mind, staying current with events and delighting in learning new things. Above all, her faith was her cornerstone, her laughter was contagious, and her love was a guiding light. Brenda was predeceased by her beloved mother, Deloris Fleming (2024), and her brother, Alvin Fleming (2000). She is survived by her father, Frank C. Fleming Sr. of Ocala, FL; her devoted fiancé, Mack McCray III; her sisters, Patricia (Reginald) Coffey of Stafford, VA, Monica Fleming-Hampton of Columbia, SC, and Joy (Allen) Bright of Dacula, GA; her brothers, Frank Fleming Jr. and David Fleming, both of Ocala, FL, and Omar Fleming of Dallas, TX; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be profoundly missed by all. A Memorial Service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 3:00pm EST at Roberts of Ocala Funerals & Cremations, 6241 SW State Road 200, Ocala, Florida 34471. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home prior to the service.
