Armando "Mondo" Pietro Cantele

Armando "Mondo" Pietro Cantele, age 90 years old, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 to be with the Lord. He was born on August 10, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph and Caterina Vivian Cantele. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Caterina Cantele; brother, Gino L. Cantele; son, James A. Cantele and daughter in law, Laura Cantele. As a veteran, Mondo served his country in the United States Air Force working in logistics. He was stationed in Okinawa. After the Air Force, he worked as a financial consultant for companies in need. For enjoyment, Mondo loved bowling with his friends at Marion Landing in Ocala, Florida where he lived. Through the years, he earned many bowling awards, including a perfect 300 game on April 10, 2015 during a Senior game at Marion Landing. In addition, he bowled a 299 game with the "10 pin laughing at him" on the 10th frame. While in his early 50's he ran the Chicago and Minnesota Marathons, which then qualified him for the Boston Marathon. He finished in the middle of the group. He also enjoyed dancing, playing pool, golfing, miniature golf, bike riding and card games. Mondo is survived by his son, Joseph D. Cantele; his 3 grandchildren, Nicole Cantele, Joseph A. (Amy) Cantele, James M. (Katie) Cantele; 5 great grandchildren, Aiden J. Hodor, Dominick A. Cantele, Sophia A. Cantele, Jake T. Cantele, Molly S. Cantele; 4 nieces, "The Cantele Sisters" Ann Converse, Susan Beltran, Cathy Siano, Sandra Chestnutt; Frank Tomasi, Joanne (Tomasi) Scholin and his significant other, Jean Crawford. Mondo will be remembered as a fun, loving, kind, compassionate and generous man who loved his family and friends unconditionally, always having a smile and positive attitude toward life. A Visitation Gathering will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM with a Celebration of Life to begin 12:30 PM in the West Chapel of Roberts Funeral Home, 6241 SW State Rd. 200, Ocala, Florida. Mondo will be laid to rest at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois on October 28, 2021, with a service beginning at 1:00 PM in the Saint Mary's Cemetery Chapel, 87th and S. Hamlin Avenue, Evergreen Park, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family desires donations to be given to the Cate's Hospice House, 9505 SW 110th Street, Ocala, Florida 34481.
