Obituary Ada Christina ThorneAda Christina Thorne was born on October 5th 1929 to proud parents Joseph and Christina Robin in #30 village, West Coast Berbice, Guyana. On February 22nd 2019 after an extended battle with Alzheimer's God called her home to rest. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hubert L. Thorne,Sr. Son John C. Thorne, parents Joseph and Christina Robin, Brothers George, Henry, Edward, Reginald, Delbert and Joseph, Sisters Winifred, Alvina, Eldeca, Hilda, Maude and Eloise. Ada (Sister Bernice as she was referred to by family) was an extremely brilliant, hardworking and tremendously family oriented person. Ada completed her nursing studies in Guyana and embarked on what would eventually develop into an amazing and highly distinguished career in nursing. Not only can she be credited with helping save lives as a nurse, but she also helped bring new life into this world early in her career as a midwife delivering babies in Guyana. If there was ever a person who put family before self it was Ada. She so loved her family she dedicated her entire life to bettering the lives of as many family members as able. She so wanted the best for her family that she set out on her own to the United States in pursuit of the best future possible for her children. This was just a starting point, she continued her efforts to help as many family members as possible. She started work as a nurse at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in The Bronx NY until her retirement as a supervisor in 1994. She moved to Florida to enjoy her retirement with her beloved husband Hubert (Bert). She joined Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. Even in retirement she continued her dedication to family. This is evident by the successful careers of her children, privately owned Health care provider, United States Marine Corp Gunnery Sergeant, Nursing Clinical Coordinator RN, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, Nurse Tech and New York State Corrections Officer. Ada continued her caring and giving with her grand and great grandchildren until Alzheimer's finally grounded her. She leaves behind children Cleveland (Krystal), Yvonne (Greg), Hubert Jr (Donna), Neville (Kim), Dennis (Karen) brother Oscar (Susan) 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren (including one on the way), nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
