Mary Bucher

July 14, 1944 - April 13, 2022

Mary Ellen (Mavis) Bucher, 77 of Summerfield, Florida, passed away on April 13th, 2022, at home in Summerfield, FL. Mary was born in Milwaukee, WI, to George and Alice Mavis on July 14th, 1944. She attended South Division High school in Milwaukee and graduated in 1962. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1966. She continued her education and earned a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Superior in 1995. Mary worked as an Employment and Training Manager for Pine Technical College in Pine City, MN, for eleven years and retired in 2006. She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, cooking, dancing, RVing, traveling, golfing, mahjong, playing games and kayaking. Mary was active in Nature Explorers where she held the position of president and was a member of the RV and the trivia clubs. Mary is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Bucher of Summerfield, Florida; her children Tracy Bucher and Karen (Bucher) Steffen, son in law Shane Steffen; her grandchildren Lucas and Genevieve Steffen, her nephews Mark and Scott Wolosz; her sister-in-law Carol (Bucher) Pfender, brother-in-law Jack Pfender and her nieces Heather Pfender and Holly Birdsley. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Alice Mavis, her sister and brother-in-law Barbra (Mavis) and Tom Wolosz and her nephew Tom Wolosz. Visitation will be held at Roberts Funeral Home, 606 SW 2nd Ave, Ocala, Florida, 34471 on April 22nd, 2022 at 3:00-6:00pm. Memorial Donations may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center: give.moffitt.org. Mary liked to celebrate life and loved her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
