Joseph L Coomes Jr, 78 of Ocala, FL passed away on November 25th. Joe, a self-proclaimed "Army Brat", was born at Fort Benning, Georgia to his parents Joseph and Drennen Coomes on September 16, 1943. An accomplished high school athlete, Joe went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree at Northern Illinois University. Joe is best known professionally for his success growing the business exponentially for Pat Ryan Insurance Co in the Detroit market to being the most successful in the country. He retired as the National Sales Manager for Pat Ryan Insurance Co, a division of Aon Corporation. An avid "Car-Guy", Joe loved everything about them, from building his own drag race vehicles to the excitement around what each new model year would bring and specifically his love for the annual Detroit Auto Show. Joe loved golf and the people he met while playing, most often, in Ludington, MI, Hendersonville NC and his home course the Country Club of Ocala. The time he enjoyed most was the time he spent with his family and was overjoyed to be a great-grandfather. Joe was quick-witted and a very bright, caring and thoughtful man who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Faith Coomes, his children Connie (Glenn) Fontaine, John Coomes and Larry (Shannon) Coomes, his brothers Mike (Yoshimi) Coomes and John (Barbara) Coomes, his grandchildren Katie (Luca) Romeo, Jackie (Jacob) McCarty, Joey Coomes, Brian Fontaine and his treasured great grandchildren Kennedy and William Romeo. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Drennen Coomes. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to either Habitat for Humanity, VOCAL (Voices of Change Animal League) in Ocala or the Marion County Humane Society.
