Harry Helgeson

May 7, 1933 - December 17, 2018

Harry E. Helgeson, Sr., 85, of Ocala, FL (formerly of Swartz Creek, MI), passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018. Harry was born to Harry M. Helgeson and Elsie Helgeson, on May 7, 1933, in Sacred Heart, MN. He married the love of his life, Barbara J. Helgeson, on October 27, 1956. They were happily married for 62 years, and together they raised four children. He leaves as his legacy three children: Susan Dunham (Thomas Dunham), Sherry Sharlow (Michael Sharlow), and Sally Helgeson. He also leaves to cherish his memory: one sister, Maryann Brandes; five grandchildren: Samantha, Cally, Harley, Lisa, and Savannah; and five great grandchildren: Connor, Haylen, Rylee, Jeremiah and Isla. He was preceded in death by his son, Harry E. Helgeson, Jr., Harry M. Helgeson (father), Elsie Helgeson (mother), Gary Helgeson (brother), and Scott Helgeson (nephew). Harry proudly served in the UnitedStates Navy during the Korean War from 1952 1956. He worked as a security guard at General Motors until he retired in 1992. His daughters remember him as a very hard-working, loving father with incredible wit and humor. A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on January 2, 2019 at Christ the King Anglican Church in Ocala, FL. Rev. Don Curran will officiate the ceremony.
