    Dominic Boetto

    August 24, 1931 - October 3, 2021

Dominic "Dom" Boetto was born in Canton Illinois to Italian immigrants, Dominic and Mini Boetto. Since Dom disliked being referred to as Junior, most people called him "Chic." Like most men of his era, he joined the service. While serving 4 years in the Air Force, he and his wife Eunice had 3 children: Laura, Steven, and Jeff. Following his service, his career evolved in the Aviation and Aerospace industry with companies like Lear, Boeing, and McDonnell Douglas. He was one of the key people involved on America's first space flight attempt, Project Mercury. Dom worked closely with historic individuals including Wernher von Braun, Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom, and John Glenn. Dom was voted world's best dad by his children with whom he spent the majority of his free time. He was active in building the Arabian horse industry in Florida with his daughter Laura and acted as president for several years. Following the passing of his wife Eunice, Dom was fortunate to meet a local girl from Hawaii, Lorna Muraoka. They shared a love of travel and adventure and alternated homes between Florida and Hawaii. Dom was a true Renaissance man with knowledge and skills across a variety of areas. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to his many friends and neighbors. He will be missed.
