Ted Robert Singleton passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019. Born in Oklahoma City on April 15, 1946, he was the son of Royce and Rebecca (Caldwell) Singleton. His father was a career Naval officer, so Ted grew up in several locations, mostly in northern California and northern Virginia. Along the way, he attended ten different schools and lived in a dozen different residences.
Ted was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1964 to 1968. After earning his GED, he took courses at the University of Oklahoma and Western Michigan University, before moving to Jacksonville, Florida and eventually settling in Ocala. For many years, he was a headhunter, specializing in recruiting candidates for management positions with insurance companies.
Ted was an expert sheller, who collected shells from the Gulf Coast to give to friends and family. He also loved to rollerblade, which he did regularly well into his 60s. An animal lover, he was devoted to his dogs, walker hound Mulligan and beagle mix Harvey, in his later years.
Ted is survived by his five siblings, Royce Jr. and wife Nancy, Ginger Shaw, Kat Singleton and husband Larry Schmidt, Chuck Singleton and partner Darryl Vivian, and Jeff Singleton and wife Brigid, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friend Marietta (Mimi) Trebing.
