Darlene (Van Winkle) Cain, age 73, of Fruitland Park, FL passed away at her home on July 9, 2019 with family members by her side. Darlene was born in Richmond, KY on June 26, 1946 to the late Raymond Van Winkle and the late Hazel Marie (Cox) Van Winkle Foster. She was married to the late Nathan Cain of Waco, KY for 40 years. In addition to her parents and husband, Darlene was proceeded in death by her grandparents Preston and Marie Van Winkle and John and Emma Cox as well as her granddaughter Mary Lee (Parke) Shackleford. Darlene is survived by her five children: Raymond Keith (Sue) Parke, Ernest Eugene (Denay) Parke, Lisa Renee’ (Mark) Myers, Steven Bert (Tabby) Parke and Rodney Lee (Jennifer) Cain. Darlene was proud to be a Grandmother to 17 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary Ruth (Rocky) Cunningham, brother Raymond Preston (Kerry) Van Winkle, Sister Kelly (Bill) Hillman, step brother and sisters, Philip (Paula) Howard, Melinda Howard, and Myra (Tony) Burkett ; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to Darlene and after several years of being a stay at home mother, she went on to have a brief career in Real Estate, owned the A & B Grocery Store in Waco KY; all the while, working alongside her husband in their family owned Pest Control Business. Her passion however, was yard sales, estate sales, and flea markets. She enjoyed a long time business finding hidden treasures and diamonds in the rough. From those treasures, she created a home filled with beautiful and unique pieces and trinkets that brought her great joy. Darlene’s favorite pass time, was time spent at the beach, walking the shore collecting shells and listening to the waves. After retiring to Florida, Nathan and Darlene became members of the Lady Lake Church of God in Lady Lake, FL where they served and worshipped for over 25 years. The Lady Lake Church of God will host Darlene’s Celebration of Life Service on Sunday July 21st at 4:00 pm under the direction of Pastor Larry Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darlene’s honor to Cornerstone Hospice of Lake/Sumter County.
