Clifford James Thompson, age 66, went to be with his Lord on September 2, 2019 surrounded by his children in Gainesville, Florida. Cliff lived a life of being a loving Son, Father and Grandfather (Granddaddy). He will always be remembered for his love of nature, especially the ocean and teaching his children and grandchildren to experience it, appreciate it, and not take it for granted. He loved surfing, fishing, nature trails, gardening, all music and was an artist. However, most of all he just loved being Granddaddy. Cliff was from Florida and moved to Kensington, Maryland around the age of eight and continued school there till he graduated from Albert Einstein High School in 1971, where he met his first love, the Mother of his children Kim Bachschmid Thompson. Shortly after his Daughter, Melissa was born, he moved his family to Florida to the Keys, then on to Tampa. After his Son, Michael, he decided to settle on the east coast of Florida to work at NASA. After his children were grown, Cliff went on to California for a few years then settled back to Florida to be near his children and grandchildren. He is the second of five children. He was preceded in death by his Father, Walter John Thompson, and his Mother, Katherine Ruth Hodges Thompson. Cliff is survived by his Daughter, Susan Melissa McCall (Joshua); Son, Michael Graham Thompson (Alexis); Grandchildren, Angela Denise “Annie” Major (Christopher), Brandon Ray “Big B” McCall, Isabella Thompson, Julian Armand Thompson; Great-Grandchildren, Faye Lillian Major, Renton Reed Major. Siblings, Cynthia VanBuren (Timothy), Holly Hargrave (Terry), James Thompson, Chris Thompson, as well as many nieces nephews and friends.
