Barbara Ellen Wagner

July 11, 1933 ~ January 27, 2019 (age 85)

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Ellen Wagner 85 of Ocala, Florida. Barbara passed away on 1/27/2019 in Advent Hospital.  Barbara surrendered to her Lord peacefully in her sleep. Barbara was born in Easley, South Carolina to James Gaston Harvey and Ruth Mae Harvey. She worked as a bartender at the American Legion Post 180 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for 30 years. Barbara received many awards in recognition of her outstanding service and assistance which contributed to the advancement of The Sons of The American Legion and The American Legion Auxiliary. Barbara was also a lifelong member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars where she worked prior to the American Legion. She cared deeply for our veterans, assisting many of our Heroes personally and financially. Barbara is survived by her son James Robert Thompson of Ocala, Florida; Daughter Sandra Charlene Wyns, Son-in-Law Michael Wyns of Ocala Florida; Grandson Benjamin Wyns and his wife Talia Wyns; Grandson Jason Wyns, his wife Nichole Wyns and Great granddaughter Ari Kai Wyns; Granddaughter Victoria Ramirez, her husband Daniel Ramirez; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Barbara was a loving and giving mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a loyal friend to so many. She also took in many rescue puppies over the years with a big tender heart towards animals. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial service at Roberts of Ocala Downtown Chapel on Saturday February 23rd at 2:00pm located at 606 SW 2nd AVE, Ocala FL 34471. For those that cannot attend the service, the family welcomes you to watch the services via Livestream at
